RESEARCH SERVICES
The availability of research studies offers additional treatment options that may be of value to some patients.
We are living in a time of great promise for medicine and cancer care. In fact, there are more novel anticancer drugs in development today than ever before.
With over 85 percent of all cancer care provided in community settings, local oncologists are playing a critical role in bringing these advances to patients. Our cancer center is making a significant contribution, providing a wide range of leading diagnostic and treatment technologies.
We offer an extensive clinical trial program. Studies currently available, sponsored by US Oncology, ECOG (A research cooperative group which is sponsored by the National Cancer Institute), and pharmaceutical companies. Through our affiliation with US Oncology, we are able to provide access to clinical trials involving new investigational anticancer agents, right here in our local community.
US Oncology is the nation’s largest health-care services network devoted exclusively to cancer treatment and research. As such, the network participates in approximately 100 clinical trials each year and has played a pivotal role in the approval of 11 new anticancer drugs over the last nine years.
While maintaining our national affiliation, we also have made significant local investments in a community-based research infrastructure, which includes a dedicated full-time staff. At present, we offer clinical trials in a number of disease categories, including:
We have clinical trials open for enrollment and are accepting referrals for potentially eligible patients. A full time research nurse is on staff at each of our facilities to facilitate the enrollment process and offer support to the patient throughout their treatment. Each clinical trial is designed to show how a new drug, often in combination with the standard chemotherapy, may potentially benefit the patient and possibly provide a more effective way of treating each disease.
All physicians in our practice are able to enroll patients in clinical trials. Please contact your doctor or nurse for more information.
